INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION THEORYInterpersonal communication is the exchange of words mostly a certain information that is between two people or even more. The theory is the area of study about communication of information, which is between the people in context whom can communicate through various strategies to come to a certain decision. Message sending and the receiver of messaging is both direct and indirect ways of ensuring the message will receive as per the expectation (Berger, & Bradac, 1982).

Understanding of the message for both senders and receivers is what makes the communication effective. When people do exchange the information between them, they reduce the chances of uncertainty, especially if they are not familiar to each other. The behavior also changes with time and one can be relaxed in the face of the other once they familiarize. Information about one’s colleague at work, relationships and other social places is what we get to know the importance of the theory of uncertainty in conjunction to the major interpersonal communication theory.

The uncertainty theory asserts that in order to reduce the anxiety and uncertainty of the person, colleague or partner, then we first gain the information about them thus it is possible to predict on their behavior. For instance, the uncertainty theory is very effective in relationships where people get to learn of their partner’s behavior. In learning ones partner’s behavior, it is then possible to realize and be able to embrace their values, ideas and beliefs. This allows for the ethical behavior and attitudes to uplift since there is that respect that will be enhanced between the people in particular field.

Actually, there are three ways that one can get information about their partner’s behavior. Passive strategy where it is through observation that one can tell about the others behavior such as in class or in the field playing games. Active strategy, where the interest of asking the person to get to know the persons behavior and at times observation may also be suitable. Interactive strategy whereby through interacting directly to the person that one is communicating with then it is easier to know more about their behavior (Berger, & Gudykunst, 1991).

Interpersonal communication usually involves interaction between two or more people. Adjusting to the other person’s behavior is what makes the situation interactive. Through adjusting and keeping up to the other person, then the positive ethical behavior and norms will always be in place and effective for either of the people that we get to work with. It ensures that the partner in a relationship, work or in a social field will always give a response that returns the polite favor (Berger, & Bradac, 1982).

In this manner, the organization and the teamwork will also enhance and ensure that the environment is very conducive.Strategic deception requires the mental effort between the people who are sharing information and the attitudes, values and beliefs in a common workplace background. Manipulation of information is likely to occur in order to present it in a plausible, sincere manner where the reactions are easy to monitor and preparation of follow-up responses and being ready for a damaged response and control the damaged situation.

By so doing, it is possible to interact freely with the other people, ensuring open communication will enhance, and no party will get hurt from the choice of words or behavior (Berger, & Gudykunst, 1991).ReferencesBerger, C.
