It is every student right to deserves equal opportunities for success in his/her academic and personal growth and that is well taken care by Nordonia High School by providing new trends, technologies and information to its students. In this paper, Business Case Analysis for the Nordonia High School is presented for modernization of its current Information system infrastructure. This can be done by modernizing its current Lab and LAN by replacing old infrastructure to a new one. Sincerely, James Information System Analyst Nordonia High School Background Information Nordonia High School is an independent English language, American-model secondary school that offers American high school curriculum in mathematics, social and natural sciences, English and Macedonian language and literature, foreign languages, fine and performing arts, and physical education. Nordonia’s campus includes over twenty classrooms and laboratories, a technology center, art, drama and music studios, an auditorium, a library, a full-service cafeteria, a bookstore and a fitness center. At presently Nordonia High School have one computer lab and library in which 20 computers are kept for students. Besides these, there is one computer for professor and one printer for general purpose use in computer lab is kept and three computers and one printer are there in library for library staffs and librarian. All the classes have a computer for teaching purpose for professors and are connected to LAN. In all the classes there is also certain plug-ins so that any students can connect their laptops to LAN for using the school resources. There are also four administrative offices in Nordonia High School that contains four computers and a printer. Nordonia High School also has two old IBM servers for providing DHCP, saving files, security, internet access, and Backup purpose. Technological Enhancements The present network (LAN system) of the Nordonia High School is installed more than 6 years ago, and now the management wants it to modernize, therefore, hardware as well as software technological enhancement will be done for Nordonia High School. Also one computer lab is not sufficient for school; therefore one additional computer lab is also needed for Nordonia High School. Below are the details for the hardware and software that are needed to modernize the school LAN system: Hardware Enhancement This is the main area which is needed to be changed. The hardware’s needed are: 21 new workstations for existing computer lab and additional 21 workstations for the proposed new computer lab. Gigabit-Ethernet 1000baseT (Cat 6 cable) as connection between hub/switch for more network throughput and enhanced speed. WDSL package - Alvarion BreezeACCESS VL 4.0 broadband platform. 3 servers for DHCP, security, internet access, files and backup. 2 x 48 port managed switch for the classrooms and 4 x 24 port managed switches for the labs, offices and library. It is assumed here that the Internet is provided by the WDSL package (Alvarion BreezeACCESS VL 4.0 broadband platform) through firewall to the Hub of the Nordonia High School LAN. Rest of the layout for Lab, Server, administrative offices and classrooms are shown in network diagrams. For simplicity reasons all the connection to the computers and printers are not shown. Figure 1: Proposed LAN for Nordonia High School The proposed new network modernization can be done on weekdays subject to availability of all the necessary hardware’s and software’s. During the time of installation the LAB will be closed on the weekdays.
