Training Module for Managers on helping Employees manage their work/life boundary Introduction As a manager of a multinational company, or small scale business or any other organization there is the need to help people working in the office to manage their work/life boundary. I chose this subject keeping in view the immense importance of managerial skill in enhancing an employee’s performance level. Human resource management is concerned with “the entire employment relationship along with all the decisions, actions and issues involved in that relationship” (Deb, 2006, p.8). Since it is the responsibility of the manager to cultivate motivation and increase creativity in an employee, therefore it is required that the managers get proper training on a regular basis.

This program is designed specifically for managers of large scale business organizations. Managers are required to implement their technical expertise in order to supervise an effective work/life program that will “offer more flexible working conditions” (Katie, 2013, p.39). My training module has a twofold purpose. Firstly, my intention is to monitor and assess the performance level of managers in relation to how they encourage employees to utilize the work/life programs. The relationship that managers share with employees needs also to be considered.

My second purpose is to make them aware of their weak points and their strengths. With my training I hope to accomplish the goal of enabling participant managers to effectively deal with their weaknesses and enhance their strong points. Course syllabus Description of training: My course program will consist of different levels of training. I will start with teaching the participant managers the basics of work/life management. Then I will emphasize on their communication skills with employees.

This will include training them for efficient stress management of employees. My training module will also include teaching the managers the essentials of human resource management, and strategic ways to deal with employee inhibitions. Often employees feel that taking advantage of work/life programs can reduce their chances of promotion. My emphasis will also be on training the managers on how to give assurance to the employees that such programs will increase their performance level which in turn will boost their chances of promotion.

The topic of my training module is enhancing the managerial skills in relation to efficient management of work/life programs of a business organization. It is the responsibility of managers to design strategies and implement all programs that will enable employees to remain committed to their career and families, and at the same time ensuring safety of employees from occupational hazards. My management training will help managers to focus on business goals and integrate those goals into a competent human management system.

My training module will include a two month course with two hours training session every week. Purpose of training: I will be conducting this training in order to understand the managerial efficiency of an organization. My training will include assessment of the relationship and communication between managers and employees. As a trainer my purpose is to instruct participant managers to curb their inherent weaknesses and sharpen their strengths while dealing with employees. The ultimate purpose of this module is to effectively train the participants so that they can duly develop and implement working conditions that will ensure occupational health and safety for employees.

Course objectives: At the end of the training session, participant managers will be able to :- provide working conditions enabling employees to feel as part of the organization develop such work/life programs that will enhance performance and decrease turnover among employees create action plans and conduct employee evaluations develop motivations within employees by providing incentive packages and provisions for self development offer flexible working hours and efficiently allocate work responsibilities to reduce work pressures on individual employee provide for family needs, favorable work culture and management support provide regular training sessions to help the employees meet the organizational goals (Pearce, 2009, pp.

214-215; Kar & Mishra, 2013, pp.63-65) Course outline: The course of this training is designed in the manner to train the participant managers to develop and implement work/life programs as such programs have a major impact on the daily performance of employees. Since managers are guiding light for employees regarding work/life balance and career enhancement, therefore the course will include :- I. encouraging employees to recognize the benefits of such programs II. providing environments that are favorable for work/life balance III.

ensuring proper implementation of the programs IV. providing health care facilities for employees Lesson plan My training will be conducted during the beginning of financial year of the business organization. This will enable managers to implement the course results in their performance throughout the financial year. I will include twenty managers for the course. Two hour training session will be held every week. In the initial sessions I will help participant managers to identify their roles and responsibilities in relation to developing effective work/life programs for employees.

In the middle sessions I will be asking the participants to demonstrate their employee managerial skills by providing them job assignments that they need to accomplish through employees. In the final sessions I will assess the performance level of managers in relation to how they communicate with employees. Resources used Three books and one journal have been used as references. These have been used to define human resource management and to learn about various factors of effective work/life programs.
