Introduction Global warming is a real phenomenon that is affecting people from time to time. It has caused changes in the climate and weather pattern and thereby affecting public health. In recent time there has been increased drought, the temperature has risen, storms has brought damages to homes and businesses while hurricanes has burnt more properties than it has been evidenced in decades. Global warming problems National Resources Defence council reports that the United States experienced the hottest month from January through June 2012. This time recorded the longest drought to have been in 50 years. More than third of the country was affected by the drought that ended in late July. During this period, the country also suffered from destructive that demolished houses, felled trees and brought down power infrastructure. The country also witnessed fires destroy over 700 homes in Colorado. However, the 2012 disasters are not the only ones, in the preceding year the U.S. had unprecedented fourteen unfavourable weather events that culminated to a loss of almost $50 billion and unaccounted health costs. In 2012, the country suffered 74 deaths as a result of extreme heat. Moreover, the mortality rate related to hot climatic condition has been a trend for the past two decades. In 2011, the country lost 206 people an increase from 138 in 2010. National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration reported that death caused by increased heat has doubled as an average of 10 year from past years average. It is forecasted that global warming if not addressed will kill more than a hundred thousand America as a result of increased heat. The side effect of flood and storms does not comprise death and destruction of property only, but it includes contaminating drinking water resulting to the outbreak of communicable infectious diseases. Increased heat and air pollution make people suffer from respiratory problems. Furthermore, global warming effects have increased tropical storms. Florida experienced immersed flooding in 2012 and claimed about seven people. The flood also destroyed about 100 households and displaced thousands other while causing damages worth billions of dollars to homes, beaches and businesses. In earlier years, the country suffered similar disasters in Ohio valley and the flooding of Mississippi River which killed seven people, and destroyed properties valued $3 billion. In 2011, Hurricane Irene was so intense that it killed 45 people and brought a damage of $10 billion. Furthermore, the Midwest storms caused increased rainfall in a day than it used to be earlier long. NRDC argues that the increase in rainfall has doubled from the past 50 years. The dry spell experienced in the first half 0f 2012 threatened food and water supply. These situations increased the costs of basic commodities milk and corn. Therefore, the experience of drought will be a seasonal phenomenon if nothing is done to address change in weather pattern and pollution. According to NRDC the southern counties in the U.S. risk facing water shortages in the last quarter of the 21st century as global warming effects increase at the rate that has been causing these humongous damages not only in America, but also in other parts of the world. Global warming remedies in other Part of the world The intense rainstorms and the rise of sea level will increase to a higher level that will cause detrimental damage in North America. The evidence of what has been the cause by these changing pattern make it clear that global warming is not a hawk, it is a disaster that need urgent measure and remedy. More like the United States, New Zealand and Australia have been experiencing impacts of global warming such as water shortages in time of droughts, shrinking glaciers, changes in weather pattern, high heat and world fires occurring from the time it time and increased rainfall that cause frequent flooding (Climate Hot Map, 2011). Global warming effects has made people think of the causes of increased temperature and changing weather patterns. Australia is among the highest carbon emission countries in the globe have advocated for the reduction of coal dependence as a source of energy. It has also mitigated the consumption of coal in industries by increasing taxes making coal energy an expensive resource in production of goods and services. On the same measure, the Australia government has put the measure to reduce the costs of other sources of energy including hydropower, nucleus, wind and solar power. New Zealand also has turned to production of renewable energy generation. Moreover, the country has abundant fossil energy, but it has in 2009 produced 73 % of the country’s energy from renewable and clean sources (Climate Hot Map, 2011). The continent of Europe includes 52 countries, which has greater responsibility to global warming. Since the industrial revolution, the continent has used fossil fuel to propel its industries and thus has emitted more carbon dioxide than any other continent. In 2008, Russia was ranked third world largest contributors of carbon dioxide (Climate Hot Map, 2011). The continent has established a robust innovation into renewable energy and in 2009 they were able to cut carbon dioxide production by seven percent in relation to 1990. Solutions According to NRDC (2011), carbon dioxide is the pertinent reason of increased famine, weather calamities, the world getting warmer and the unprecedented amount of rainfall. It has thus caused distress among human being and affected the health of the victims. Therefore, carbon dioxide needs to be cut to reduce air pollution and minimise depleting the Ozone layer. This measure can be done in the community level as well as the national level. People are supposed to embrace clean energy sources like electricity instead of gasoline. Moreover, people need to learn to recycle non-compostable material rather than disposing them and later burning. This will help reduce carbon emission in homes and community. At a national level, the government is supposed to impose ban or use economic measure to mitigate carbon dioxide production in industries. These measures have put in place in Australia, Europe and have achieved to minimize carbon pollution. . Conclusion Moreover, the country needs to turn to alternative sources of energy like hydropower and wind powered energy. Although, has been done to a greater extent, but the country needs to wipe out the used of coal and gasoline. When this is done the neighbourhood will be more secure from floods, droughts, and tropical hail storm that have characterized most of the states in the country. Work Cited Climate Hot Map.
