The spread of fire in compartment buildings has been a subject of many studies. The factors that affect the spread of fire in compartments have also been under a lot of investigations. The heat release rate and heat transfer play an important role in fire space (Park, Jee & Jeong, 2014). The studies have been carried out by different scholars as well as fire departments. Another factor influencing the fire development includes the fuel properties, ventilation, fuel quantity, geometry of the compartment and the ambient conditions.

Studies have also indicated that the growth of the fire is not limited to oxygen. The spread of fire in chambers has also generated interests in other areas. This involves the effects of pressure on the spread of fire in a compartment. The pressure is one of the important factors useful in determining the rate at which the fire will spread. The central aspect of the force is the differences in the apartment on fire. The factors that influence the development of fire have generated interests among the firefighters.

Understanding the factors is useful in putting out the fire (Fan, Ji, Gao, Han & Sun, 2013). A lot of studies have been carried out to establish the factors that influence the development of fire. This has contributed to putting place measures that slow down the spread of fire in a compartment. Studies have also found out that the result of fire usually takes place in stages. The stages of fire development must be understood to explain how fire develops in a vented compartment clearly. The fire in vent compartments depends on various factors, and it does not necessarily follow the fire development curve.

The first stage of fire development is the incipient stage. At this stage, the fuel's characteristics and configuration play an important role in determining the fire's outcome. Oxygen is also available at the compartment at this stage to support the burning process.
