some HR divisions engaged in favoritism during promotions, while others did not offer opportunities for career advancement. The non-transferability of the employees from one unit to the other or from one division to the other was yet another HR inadequacy that contributed to the work motivation challenges.

Recommendations

The recommendation for addressing the misalignment of salary and benefits challenge is the harmonization of all the salaries and benefits of all the employees in the organization regardless of their divisions. This will motivate the employees from the departments that are negatively affected since salary and benefits form a fundamental factor determining employee satisfaction (Kanfer, 2009).

To address the challenge of poor HR practices, it is recommended that the HR function of the organization is centralized. This is necessary so that all the issues of the employees are catered for centrally, equitably and with no favoritism.

The completion of the course has influenced the choice of the challenges and recommendations, owing to the fact that the course has established the reward systems, salary and benefits as well as equal opportunity for career development as fundamental factors motivating employees to higher productivity within an organization (Kanfer, 2009).
